As a Raph enthusiast, I would love to hear more fun facts about Replica!Raph! If you want to give them of course :]
I DO enjoy talking about Raph! I feel bad because he doesnât get nearly as much screen time in Replica but he will still have a big part to play in it, especially in the upcoming chapter. Have a few fun tidbits about him under the cut:

Raph was badly injured when the Krang attacked their lair shortly after the fall of the Hidden City. Donnie was forced to basically keep him on life support that he created with his own Ninpo (which he could only keep up for so long). It was one of the major reasons Leo decided to reach out to the Central Park Colony for help.
You may notice Raph no longer has his iconic "x" bandages on his chest. They were removed back when he was first brought in to the Central Park colony because the doctors assumed he had been injured underneath. It was tossed out along with the other bloody bandages and Raph is still a little sad about it since I always head-canon that it was a wound his father dressed when he was little.
Raph became Uncle 1 to Casey Junior after his birth, though all of them are basically like uncles to him. Sadly he did not get to spend much time with CJ before the fall of the Central Park colony, maybe a few years.
Raph Ninpo definitely became more powerful but he was more focused on helping Leo lead rather than advancing his skills. What's more Raph's training tended to focus more on increasing his own physical strength rather than his mystic abilities.
He has however, advanced his Ninpo where he can use his "alternate copies" across vast distances and use them for reconnaissance or communication with his brothers (though it's usually not necessary since Donnie has communication covered).
He also can make a lot of copies of himself now. Like... A LOT. We're talking Naruto levels of cloning ninjutsu. Though it does take a lot out of him (which is why he trained so hard in increasing his stamina). Raph is a "work harder" rather than "work smarter" kind of guy even in adulthood.
Note: I'll be going more in depth with some of these details and include accompanying art once I get the patreon up and running after the Special is done! Soon...

DARK SORCERY. taught by Baba Yaga
for those required to ( or foolish enough to ) dabble in the shadows, this class explores the ancient and forbidden arts of dark magic. Baba Yaga, cryptic and terrifyingly wise, teaches students the ethics of wielding power, the risks of curses and hexes, and how to summon forces beyond mortal comprehensionâstrictly for academic purposes⌠of course. students who can keep up with her demanding lessons will most certainly find themselves walking the fine line between greatness and peril, just as intended
HOMEWORK. expect assignments on hexes, shadow magic, and extremely ethically questionable but highly effective spellcasting techniques PLEASE THE PROFESSOR. be respectful, but not a suck up... listen carefully, but don't hang onto her every word... and never waste her timeâBaba Yaga is a fickle old witch who does not tolerate foolishness AVOID MISHAPS. donât touch any of the professorâs personal artifactsâone single misstep, and you might find yourself cursed for a week ( or a lifetime )
WOODSHOP. taught by Mr. Geppetto
in this hands-on class, students learn the craftsmanship of enchanted carpentry, from crafting magical furniture to carving living marionettes ( though talking puppets are strictly optional. ) taught by the legendary woodcarver Geppetto, the course emphasizes precision, patience, and the importance of working with enchanted materialsâbecause nobody wants a table that turns into a frog mid-banquet
HOMEWORK. crafting intricate wooden figures, repairing broken fairytale objects, and designing enchanted furniture to be presented to the class while Geppetto ooh-s and aah-s encouragingly and inspects it from every angle PLEASE THE PROFESSOR. pay attention to detail, measure at least twice before cutting, and never be careless with your tools ( wouldn't wanna lose a finger... or more ) AVOID MISHAPS. never bring anything to life by accidentâMr. Geppetto still has opinions about unexpected animated puppets, most of them aren't as perfect as his
DEBATE. taught by Mrs. Her Majesty, the White Queen
a battle of wits, logic, and eloquence, this class teaches students how to construct compelling arguments, navigate royal negotiations, and win verbal duels with precision. The White Queen is a master of both reason and Wonderlandian riddles, and she ensures her students can debate everything from kingdom policies to whether a dragonâs hoard should be considered taxable income. though, of course, you always have to shake your opponents hand before and after a debateâand sometimes halfway through, too ( âdebate is nothing without decorum, dearsâ the teacher chirps. )
HOMEWORK. researching historical disputes, and crafting persuasive speeches and arguments to perform in class PLEASE THE PROFESSOR. speak clearly, argue with logic, and maintain perfect etiquetteâshe values reason and refinement above all else. a perfectly crafted argument could be given zero-sum marks if you use foul language while presenting it AVOID MISHAPS. donât descend into nonsense logicâMrs. Her Majesty and the subject of debate as a whole has no room for "because I said so" as a defense

That one bit between nightmare and moment of clarity is probably, writing-wise, my favorite passage in the entire game. So of course I hand-wrote all of it on a scrap piece of offset ink-stained paper that had a cool texture.
For anyone curious, more about how this weird little piece came to be below the cut
I'm an illustrator in training. By which I mean I'm taking an advanced vocational training in illustration course. One of the classes is a printing class (As in carving art into a matrix you then stamp/print).
Sometimes, you remove the excess ink off your matrix by placing a spare piece of newspaper or magazine paper on top and peeling it off, taking a hefty amount of excess ink with it.
This particular scrap sheet came out with a really cool texture, so I kept it instead of throwing it out.
Then, genius struck:
So I reached for my white gel pen and started going at it. At some point I needed something heftier, so I wound up borrowing a posca paint marker off a classmate, then a red paint marker off a professor.
I was. Locked in. On a mission (the mission was seeing this piece through. I was VERY compelled, for some reason.)
So TLDR this is just a stained piece of magazine paper I drew on. Then I scanned it and fixed the overblown scan in Krita to give the blacks the real depth they're supposed to have.

Can you pretty please write an imagine about having a toddler/baby with Snape and him who was originally against kids, suddenly develops baby fever and starts hinting (but it gets progressively worse and less of hints and more obvious and straight up saying) about having another baby?
Thank you in advance!!!!!đĽšâşď¸

Severus Snape had never been a man for children. It wasnât that he despised them or lacked the capacity to care, but children had always felt like a distant and unnerving concept to him. They were noisy, unpredictable, and he couldnât quite figure out how to connect with them. His life had always been consumed by darker thoughtsâby the looming shadows of his past, the weight of his mistakes, and the mission that had occupied so much of his energy and time.
So when his wife, Y/N, had approached him with the news of their first pregnancy, he had not responded with joy or excitement. Instead, there was a hollow feeling in his chest, a sinking sensation that he couldnât ignore. Heâd always been content with the life they had built togetherâa life that had started slowly, cautiously, and with much hesitation on his part.
But somehow, Y/N had won him over. Her gentle presence had been his anchor for years. She had seen past the mask of bitterness and mistrust that he wore, had understood the complexities of his soul better than anyone else ever had. And for reasons he could not fully comprehend, he had agreed to become a father with her.
Their daughter, Ella, had arrived in the middle of the night, a small bundle of soft skin and wailing cries. Severus had stared at her in stunned silence as Y/N held her in her arms, the newbornâs tiny face scrunched up in indignation at the world. He had been terrified. Terrified not of the birthâhe had been present, of courseâbut terrified of the responsibility, of the unknown.
But now, months later, he found himself in the nursery, staring down at the small bundle that lay in the crib before him. Ella was a few months old nowâperhaps four, though time had lost its sharp edges in the haze of new parenthood. She was the light of their home, her dark eyes gleaming with an innocent wonder that made Severusâs heart ache in ways he didnât quite understand.
âElla,â he murmured softly, bending down to look at his daughter as she lay there, her tiny hands waving in the air, her chubby little cheeks pink from sleep. A soft gurgle escaped her lips, and Severus found himself smilingâan unfamiliar, fragile expression that felt almost foreign.
She adored him. That was the most startling thing about being a father. Ella didnât just like him. She adored him. She would reach out for him when he entered the room, her tiny fingers grasping for his hands as though she knew exactly who he was. And every time he picked her up, he felt that little pulse of warmth in his chest, that overwhelming sense of purpose he never knew he could have.
But the problem was, he didnât know how to be a father.
He had spent his life training in Potions, in dark arts, in the art of deception. He had faced death, betrayal, and sorrow. But none of that prepared him for thisâbeing a parent, holding a tiny human who relied on him completely. He had no idea what he was doing.
Y/N, of course, was incredible at it. She had an instinctive ability to calm Ella, to make her laugh with a simple smile, to soothe her with the soft lilt of her voice. Severus had no such talents. His voice was too harsh, too low. His movements were often stiff, and sometimes he felt utterly overwhelmed by Ellaâs needsâfeeding, changing, the constant vigilance required to keep a baby happy.
But Ella, in her innocent way, didnât seem to mind. She loved him, and she trusted him. That fact alone terrified Severus.
One evening, as he sat in the armchair by the fire, reading a particularly complex potion manual, Y/N came into the room with Ella cradled in her arms. Ellaâs tiny face peeked out from under a soft knitted blanket, her dark hair sticking up at odd angles.
âYouâre not reading that nonsense to her, are you?â Y/N asked, a teasing smile playing on her lips.
Severusâs eyes flickered up from his book, irritation curling at the edge of his thoughts. âIâm not reading it to her,â he replied gruffly, setting the book aside with a slight wave of his hand. âIâm reading it for myself. Youâll forgive me if I donât resort to nursery rhymes.â
Y/N chuckled, settling into the chair next to his. She lifted Ella so that the baby could gaze at her father, her tiny hands reaching out with wide eyes full of wonder.
Severus swallowed, his heart thumping.
Ellaâs gaze locked with his, and she gave a small, gurgling giggle. His lips twitched in the faintest of smiles. The noise seemed so absurd to him, this soft, childish sound, but it filled him with a strange pride, a warmth he couldnât quite shake.
âYouâre making it hard to be mad at you when you look at me like that,â Severus muttered, his voice rough.
Y/N laughed softly, the sound a gentle melody that seemed to lighten the weight on his chest. She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek, careful not to disturb the baby between them. âSheâs going to be just like you,â Y/N said quietly, her voice soft with affection. âShe already is.â
Severus looked at Ella again, his eyes softening. She was still giggling, her hands now reaching for the thick fabric of his robe. He let out a sigh, a mixture of exasperation and wonder.
âI never asked for this,â he admitted, his voice low. âI never wanted⌠this.â
Y/N glanced at him in surprise, her brow furrowing slightly. âBut youâre doing wonderfully, Severus. Look at her. Look at how she looks at you. She adores you.â
His gaze flickered to the baby in her arms, and he saw that glimmer of trust again in Ellaâs eyes. It both warmed and unnerved him. âI donât know what Iâm doing, Y/N. I wasnât⌠prepared for this.â
âYou never could have been,â she replied gently. âNo one is. But youâre doing your best, and thatâs enough.â
Severusâs gaze dropped to his hands, his fingers fidgeting in his lap. âI donât know if it is enough,â he muttered. âI donât know how to⌠be a father.â
Y/Nâs voice softened, and she leaned closer, placing a hand on his arm. âYouâre doing just fine, Severus. You love her. Thatâs all that matters.â
For the briefest moment, Severus let himself believe her. His mind wandered back to Ellaâs first few monthsâhow she would sometimes cry, and he would feel completely useless. How she would smile at him, and it would feel like a blessing he didnât deserve.
But recently, something else had begun to stir in his chest, something he couldnât ignore. It was an ache, a longing.
He wanted another child.
He didnât understand it. It was absurd, really. After all, he had never wanted children. He had thought one was more than enough. But as the days passed, and he spent more time with Ella, he found himself wondering about the possibility of another child. A son, perhaps. Another daughter. The thought haunted him, and he couldnât shake it.
He never told Y/N. He never even spoke about it, not aloud. He wasnât sure how she would react. Would she think him mad? Would she want more children, or had she, like him, thought one was enough?
Severusâs gaze lingered on Ella for a long time, his thoughts swirling with uncertainty and hope.
As Ella grew older, the ache only grew stronger. But he kept it to himself. He didnât want to bring it up, didnât want to risk disrupting the quiet peace they had found in their little family.
One evening, Y/N and Ella were asleep. Severus stood by the window, gazing out at the darkened grounds of their home, lost in thought. His fingers brushed the edge of the windowsill as he stared out into the night.
What if they had another baby?
The thought seemed both impossible and deeply desirable at once. But he wasnât sure he could handle the pressure. He wasnât sure he was ready.
His fingers tightened on the sill, but the decision was still uncertain, and for now, he would keep it to himself.
For now, he would wait.
The night had settled over their home in a tranquil hush. The only sound was the soft crackling of the fire in the hearth, casting a gentle flicker of light across the darkened bedroom. Y/N was curled against Severusâs side, her breath steady and calm in the silence of their shared space. Ella, for once, was asleep in her crib beside them, the rhythmic sound of her breathing an almost comforting backdrop to the otherwise quiet evening.
Severusâs gaze rested on Y/Nâs face, the soft contours illuminated by the firelight. There was a serene beauty in the way she sleptâunburdened, content. He envied that peace. It had been several months since Ellaâs birth, and while he had grown accustomed to the joys and trials of fatherhood, there were still moments when he found himself uncertain, questioning his place in this new life they had created.
His fingers traced the curve of Y/Nâs shoulder, and she stirred slightly, a faint smile crossing her lips without fully waking. Her hand found his, and she squeezed it gently, a wordless acknowledgment of his presence beside her.
For a long while, Severus simply lay there, trying to calm the anxious thoughts that kept spinning in his mind. His heartâusually so guardedâhad become more and more open with each passing day, and now, with the flickering fire and the soft rhythm of Y/Nâs breathing, he knew there was something he needed to say. Something he had been too afraid to admit, even to himself.
He wanted another child.
The idea had lingered in his mind for weeks, growing steadily, quietly. He had always been hesitant about the idea of fatherhood, but now⌠now he found that the thought of Ella having a siblingof their family growingâwasn't just a fleeting fancy. It was a longing.
He turned onto his side to face her, watching the rise and fall of her chest. He could feel the weight of the words pressing against his tongue. He needed to say it. He had to. And yet, as always, there was a lingering hesitation. What if she didnât feel the same? What if she thought he was mad?
Y/N stirred once more, her eyes fluttering open to meet his. Her lips curved into a soft smile, and her voice was a quiet murmur in the darkened room. âSeverus?â
âIâve been thinking,â he began, his voice rough but steady, âabout⌠something...â
Her brow furrowed in the dim light, and she shifted slightly, propping herself up on her elbow. There was a flicker of surprise in her eyes, but she said nothing, waiting for him to continue.
He swallowed, his pulse quickening as he spoke, his words tumbling out more quickly than he intended. âEllaâs growing up, and IâŚâ He hesitated, trying to gather the right words. âI donât know. I justââ
Before he could finish, a loud, shrill cry interrupted him.
Ella.
The sound of their daughterâs wailing echoed through the room, cutting through the tension between them like a knife. Severus froze, his words forgotten in the face of his daughterâs distress. Y/N immediately sat up, her hand already reaching for the edge of the bed.
âIâll go,â she said, her voice soft but full of concern. âStay here.â
âNo,â Severus said, his voice sharper than he intended. âIâll do it.â He swung his legs over the side of the bed, his feet touching the cold wooden floor with a soft thud.
Y/N looked at him for a moment, then nodded, though the expression on her face betrayed a hint of disappointment. âAlright.â
Severus stood, his body stiff with the weight of the unfinished conversation. He hesitated for just a moment, casting a glance back at Y/N. She had already settled back down on the bed, her hand resting lightly on the pillow as she waited for him to return.
With a deep sigh, Severus walked toward the crib, where Ellaâs cries were growing louder by the second. He found her thrashing, her little hands reaching out toward him in the dark, her face scrunched up in discomfort. For a moment, he felt that familiar wave of helplessness wash over him. What had caused the crying this time?
âIâm here, Ella,â he murmured softly, reaching down to lift her into his arms. The moment her tiny body was against his chest, the crying slowed, though she still sniffled, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand. Her small face looked up at him, her dark eyes locking with his, and for the briefest moment, Severus forgot all about his internal turmoil.
She was his daughter. She needed him.
His heartbeat slowed as he rocked her gently in his arms. Her tiny fingers curled around the fabric of his nightshirt, and the soothing rhythm of the moment seemed to ease some of the tightness in his chest.
As he stood there in the dark, holding Ella close, he realized somethingâhe didnât know what the future held. He didnât know if Y/N would agree with his desire for another child. But he did know one thing: he wanted to try. He wanted to take that step with her. He didnât want to regret not saying something.
He sighed softly, looking down at Ella, her cries subsiding into soft hiccups. He whispered a small lullaby under his breath, one his mother had sung to him when he was a boy, though he hadnât thought of it in years. Ellaâs eyelids fluttered, and within moments, she was asleep again in his arms, her tiny chest rising and falling with the slow, steady rhythm of deep slumber.
He placed her back gently in her crib, careful not to wake her again, and lingered for a moment by the side of the bed. The room was quiet again, save for the soft crackle of the fire.
He turned to find Y/N still lying there, her face now illuminated by the soft glow of the embers. There was a quiet sadness in her expression, and it tugged at something deep within him.
Severus hesitated for a long moment, still struggling to find the words. He took a deep breath, his mind racing.
But just as he was about to speak again, a sharp knock at the door cut through the stillness.
âSeverus!â came a voice from the hallwayâProfessor McGonagallâs voice, urgent as always. âI apologize for disturbing you, but thereâs a matter that requires your immediate attention.â
Severus cursed under his breath, his frustration mounting. Y/N gave him a sympathetic look, though she didnât say anything. He stood still for a moment, his fingers curling into fists, before finally making his way to the door.
âIâll return shortly,â he muttered to Y/N, though he knew it was unlikely he would be able to finish their conversation tonight. The thread of it was slipping away, tangled with interruptions he had no control over.
He opened the door to find McGonagall standing there, her face set with concern. "It's about the Order, Severus. We need your assistance immediately."
He nodded curtly, stepping out of the room. But as the door closed softly behind him, his heart sank. The opportunity to speak his mindâto share his desires with Y/Nâhad slipped through his fingers once again.
The night stretched on, filled with unspoken words and unfinished thoughts. Severus returned to their bedroom hours later, finding Y/N already asleep, her breathing slow and steady. Ella, too, was peacefully resting in her crib.
Severus stood in the doorway for a moment, watching them both. His heart still ached with the longing he had yet to voice. But for now, it seemed that silence would be his companion, and the desire for another child would remain just thatâsomething unspoken, nestled in the quiet corners of his heart.
He sighed quietly and undressed, slipping into bed beside Y/N. He would try again, perhaps another time. But for now, he let the peace of the room settle around him, his thoughts drifting into a restless sleep.
The weeks passed in a blur of routine. Ella grew steadily, her giggles becoming more pronounced, her tiny hands reaching for new things, her little legs kicking with uncontained joy. Severus was still adjusting to the complexities of parenthood, and despite his initial reservations, he found himself more and more fascinated by Ellaâs development.
Yet, as much as he tried to focus on the presentâon the quiet joy of watching his daughter learn and growâthere was still the persistent pull at his heart. The thought of another child lingered like a shadow, growing clearer and more urgent with each passing day.
It was early one morning, just as the first rays of sunlight filtered through the curtains, when Severus finally decided he couldnât keep this to himself any longer.
Y/N was still asleep beside him, her head nestled against his pillow, her breathing steady. Ella, in her crib, was still asleep as well, her tiny fingers curled around her soft blanket. Severus lay still for a moment, watching his wife. She looked peaceful, utterly content in the quiet of the morning.
He had spent so many nights lying next to her, wondering when the right moment would come. When he would finally be able to say the words that had been weighing on his mind for months. Every time he tried to speak, something would come up. Some distraction, some interruption, some reason that felt like a sign that he wasnât ready to say it yet.
But now, in the calm of the morning, with everything still and quiet around them, he felt like he had no choice. He had to tell her. He couldnât live with this uncertainty any longer.
Severus turned onto his side, gently facing her. His fingers reached out, brushing the soft strands of hair away from her face, his touch tender and tentative.
âY/N,â he murmured softly, just above a whisper.
She stirred slightly but didnât wake. He leaned in closer, his lips brushing the top of her head. âY/N,â he repeated, a little louder this time.
Her eyelids fluttered open, and she blinked up at him, a slow smile spreading across her face as she saw him there, so close. Her hand instinctively reached for his, her fingers warm and soft. âGood morning,â she said, her voice low and still heavy with sleep. âWhat time is it?â
âEarly,â Severus replied, though he didnât truly care about the time. He needed to get to the point.
Y/Nâs eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of concern crossing her features as she saw the expression on his faceâmore serious, more intense than usual. âIs something wrong?â she asked, her voice full of worry.
âNo,â Severus said, his voice steady despite the flurry of emotions running through him. âBut thereâs something Iâve been meaning to talk to you about. Something important.â
Y/Nâs expression softened, her hand squeezing his gently. âWhat is it, Severus? You know you can tell me anything.â
He swallowed, feeling the weight of her gaze on him. There was a time when he would have kept this hidden, when he would have buried his desires and fears deep inside, keeping them locked away. But now⌠now, with Y/N by his side, he didnât want to hide anything anymore. She had always known him better than anyone else.
Severus took a slow breath and met her eyes. His voice was quiet but firm. âIâve been thinking a lot about Ella lately,â he began, his gaze drifting toward their daughterâs crib, though his thoughts remained focused on Y/N. âAbout how fast sheâs growing. How fast everything is changing.â
Y/N followed his gaze, her smile softening into something more contemplative. âShe is growing so quickly,â she agreed quietly. âItâs hard to believe how much sheâs already changed in just a few months.â
Severus nodded, then looked back at her. His chest felt tight as he continued, âI want to have another child.â
The words hung in the air between them, heavy with meaning. Y/Nâs eyes widened slightly, a mix of surprise and something elseâsomething he couldnât quite readâcrossing her face. She blinked, as though processing what he had said.
âYou⌠want another baby?â she asked, her voice a little uncertain, but not in a way that suggested rejection. It was more like she was searching for clarification, trying to understand.
Severus nodded, though he felt his throat tighten as the words escaped him. âYes. I never thought I would say this. I never thought Iâd want it, butâŚâ He trailed off, shaking his head slightly. âI do. I want another child. I want Ella to have a sibling. I want⌠I want our family to grow.â
Y/Nâs gaze softened, her expression unreadable for a moment. She was silent for a long while, and Severus found himself unable to look away from her, his heart pounding in his chest. His words felt clumsy, rushed, and he was terrified of her response.
But then, after what seemed like an eternity, Y/N sat up slightly, her hand still resting gently in his. She studied him for a long time, her eyes searching his face as though weighing his sincerity, understanding the depth of what he was asking.
âYouâve thought this through?â she asked quietly, her voice calm but full of concern. âYouâre sure about this?â
Severus hesitated for a moment, his eyes searching hers. âIâve thought about it for months, Y/N. Iâve watched you with Ella, and Iâve seen the joy that she brings into our lives. Iâve seen how much love we have to give her⌠and I canât help but think that thereâs more of that love to give. I donât know why, butâŚâ His voice faltered slightly. âI feel that weâre not finished yet.â
Y/Nâs eyes softened, and she let out a slow breath, as though processing the weight of his words. She reached out, cupping his face with her hand, her thumb brushing gently over his cheek.
âYou know, Severus,â she said with a faint smile, âIâve thought about it too.â
Severus blinked, his heart skipping a beat. He hadnât expected her to say that. âYou have?â
She nodded. âWhen Ella was born, I wasnât sure how Iâd feel about having another child. It felt overwhelming, the thought of going through all of that again. ButâŚâ She paused, her gaze tender. âAs I watch her grow, I canât help but feel like our family isnât quite complete yet either. Like thereâs room for more love, more laughter, more life.â She smiled softly. âSo yes, Iâve thought about it. And I think Iâd like that too. Iâd like to try again.â
Severus felt his breath catch in his throat. He had braced himself for any number of responsesâsurprise, hesitation, even rejectionâbut this⌠this was more than he could have hoped for.
âYou would?â he whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
Y/Nâs smile deepened, and she nodded again. âYes. But I think we should take it slowly. We need to be sure that weâre both ready for it. And we have to consider everythingâthe logistics, the time, everything. But Iâm open to it, Severus. I want to have another child, too.â
Relief washed over him like a tidal wave, and before he could stop himself, he leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. He felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude in that moment. It was a feeling he hadnât been sure he would ever experienceâthis kind of peace, this kind of certainty.
âIâm glad,â he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. âIâve wanted to say this for so long. I wasnât sure how youâd react⌠but now I know.â
Y/N reached up, cupping his face in both hands, her eyes bright with affection. âI love you, Severus. And whatever we decide, weâll do it together.â
Severusâs heart swelled at her words, and he leaned into her touch, closing his eyes for a moment. It was more than he had ever dared to hope for.
For the first time in what felt like ages, he allowed himself to truly believe in the possibility of their futureâof their growing family, of their love continuing to expand.
As the morning light brightened the room, the sound of Ella shifting in her crib broke the stillness, but this time, it didnât feel like an interruption. It felt like the beginning of something newâsomething they would face together.
Severus smiled softly, his hand finding Y/Nâs once more. And for the first time, he felt a deep, resounding sense of peace settle in his heart.

knight henry cavill x prince reader
summary: after a gruelling swordsmanship lesson with the head of your knight guard, henry, you relax for a while until henry comes to your study/bedroom to help with your forms. ;)
warnings: inexperienced henry, blowjob, part 2 maybe, i lowkey love this plot, taboo, henry needs guidance, henry is stern, reluctance, mlm, gay asf
spotify
My limbs ached. Sweat dripped from my brow, threatening to break my concentration. Fighting against Henry was a struggle in itself, but being inexperienced and fighting him was even harder. My father, the king, had constantly pushed me to improve in the art of sword. But I always pushed him off.
Knocking me from my own thoughts, Henry advanced striking above my head with a sharp, precise blow. He wouldnât attack with this strength if he thought I couldnât handle it. Henry had become the head of my knight guard last winter and he was been excellent at it. He is extremely protective of âhis princeâ. This Henry felt different though. My steel blade sung as it collided with his. He was strongerâmuch more so. He put his weight on his blade, forcing me to my knees. Brows furrowed, I tried desperately to stand back up. Eventually, I surrendered.
-
Later that night, I was in my study when I heard a knock at my door. âSire?â It was Henry. Despite me being younger than him, he still continued to address me as his senior.
âWhat is it, Henry?â His eyes impassive, he entered my study and closed the door.
âApologies for the intrusion, my prince, but I was wondering if I could give you some tips when it comes to your swordsmanship?â In truth I had always been intrigued by the man. His body filled out the already-large armour so nicely. He had a collection of strong features on his face that composed a handsome man. It was no surprise that I agreed.
âLike this?â Henryâs arms were entwined with mine, his body behind mine. His silver armour was thick but strong. Yet it was thin enough for me to feel his hard, toned body. He had gathered my sword and put it in my hand.
âAlmost.â His deep voice soothed my ears. He spoke so much with his chest that his entire body rattled as he talked. He planted my hands higher on the hilt and talked right into my ear. âLike that.â I flushed. For some reason he was making me extremely nervous. I hadnât felt like that before. Except around him.
After some hours of training with his help, I turned to face himâclad in armour. âThank you. Youâve been helpful, truly.â I stared into his eyes. They were an uncommon shade of blue that seemed to light any time you looked into them. His eyebrows arched in surprise. He didnât take his eyes off mine.
âThe pleasure is mineâŚIâI wish always to help my prince.â He was taller than me. Quite drastically so that, this close to him, he had to really look down on me. In truth, I found it exhilarating.
It was as if a compulsion had befallen me. In that moment I wanted nothing more than to taste his lips, possibly more than his lips. I leaned in, going to my tip-toes to reach his lips. Though he pulled back. Somewhat crestfallen I asked him why he pulled back.
âSire, I am sworn to protect you. To do something like that with youâŚitâsâŚitâs wrong.â Even with his words forming a thick wall between us, I could see a desperate hunger within his eyes.
âKnights must swear fealty, yes?â
âOf course, any true knight wouldnât even think twice about thoseââ
I cut him off.
âSo youâre loyal to me and only me. Iâm asking this from you. Donât act like you donât want it too.â I could see his mind working behind those eyes. It was one of the first times I had seen emotion from him. Any other time he would have a straight face and a stern voice. But right then he had his eyes widened and his mouth slightly open.
âEven so, sire, itâs bad practice to do something with whom youâre sworn protection to.â
âWellâŚâ I slipped my hands to his neck, the cold of his armour stinging me, though I didnât show it. âWould it not be easier to protect me if you were in my bed with me?â
Silence. My eyes darted across his face searching for an indicator if he would finally let his vows go for a night. His tongue licked his lips; he let out a growl, deep and gentle. For me that was the best sign of resignation I would get. I crashed my mouth into his. I could feel the odd patches of stubble on his face where he had shaved. It made me feel warm to know thing knew about him. He was not only protective of me, but protective about himself. I knew practically nothing about him, but, the way he held my head in his handsâpulling me closerâI felt as if heâd known me my whole life.
I was now behind Henry, unlatching huge chunks of his armour and wincing as they fell, clanging to the ground. With each piece of armour gone, a new area of Henry unlocked for me. I hadnât seen the sun-glazed skin of his lower back, it was always covered by the same polished armour. Something entirely new to me was his large arm muscles. I traced the skin free from the metal, feeling the clear distinctions from each muscle.
âYou train this much to protect me?â The sentiment was one I enjoyed quite much.
âEveryday, at dawn.â
I let out a chuckle. âSo thatâs why I canât find you in the mornings.â
âYou look for me?â He had turned ever so slightly, looking at me as I dropped he last armour piece to the ground. He had the hints of a smile on his face. Even a single new expression from Henry was enough to get me hot and bothered.
âWhen I want to.â I remarked. Pushing Henry onto the soft silk of my bed, I drop to my knees. âYouâve neverâŚ?â My cheeks flushing at the thought of Henry doing anything sexual. He shook his head. Even I was surprised that I had more experience than him. I unlaced his brown undergarments. I knew his eyes were dark on mine. Every second or so I glanced up and saw he was watching my every move with intention lighting behind his eyes. It was my last confirmation that he did want this as much as me before I dropped his pants to the ground.
What sprung out before me shocked me. Henry, sitting on the edge of the bed, leaned back on his forearms. He was the picture of pure pride. Then he saw my reaction to him and chuckled deeply. Again, I felt that warmth inside. That was new, same as before, but it was even better. I made an agreement with myself then: âIf Henry refuses to show you his emotions, make him.â
I began my expedition on Henryâs warmth by using my mouth on his testicles. He seemed to like that very much. He smelled unnaturally good for being in hot gear for hours on end. I treated each of his testicles, swapping from his right to his left then licking in between them. He reacted kindly to that, muttering incoherent words whilst I worked on him. I worshipped the base of his penis, working my way up to his tip. Henryâs tip was a pretty pink that was the complete antithesis of the rough man spread out before me. He seemed to be 7 inches by the time I had begun to engulf him.
I practically salivated tasting the soft skin on the head; my mouth bumped over the thick veins scattered around his shaft. Henryâs eyes were still on me, or perhaps he was watching the way I sucked him, having never felt it before. Either way I was entirely satisfied.
Inch by inch I took him deeper into my mouth. It was completely taboo, that was why I enjoyed it. If anyone were to see us, Henry would be killed on the spot. They would accuse him on manipulation, possibly witchcraft. Though it had felt like witchcraft watching him enchant me the way he had. I forced myself all the way down on his member then hallowing my cheeks to make Henry get everything out of my throat. For all his time protecting me, he deserved it. He deserved to be served by his prince.
âDoes this feel good?â I huffed in the small moments I wasnât sucking his tip.
âEntirely,â Henry panted, still trying to keep his manners straight. âsire.â He gracefully undid the lace of his shirt and let it fall past his shoulders. From my perspective in between his thighs, I studied the form of his chest. Unlike his hygiene he didnât bother with his body hair, letting it grow wildly where it was permitted. That being his chest and his abdomen. I hadnât realised how much I needed to see that until he allowed me to see it. My hands guided his penis further into my mouth. It was amusing to watch such a brooding man havenât a single idea about sex.
âThrust your hips, Henry.â I seductively whispered at him. He did as his prince asked him and forced his hips in the air with precision and aim, managing to hit deep into my throat. His breath started to get cut off by the clear pleasure he was feeling. All I did was sit prettily with my mouth engulfing his length as his hips gained speed. He placed a hand on my head and kindly forced my mouth deeper into him. His hips hung in the air as he finished in me. Henryâs mouth was open with euphoria and if I could have moved my mouth I would have smiled. That was another new expression I hadnât seen from him. It was caused solely by me. The hot liquid that seeped from his head into my mouth was new to me. I had had many male suitors but none that I allowed to finish inside me. Yet I allowed Henry. It was odd, for me to be so careless. Henry let out a final exasperated gasp before he came back to his senses and let me free of his member. I came back gagging, yet I still had a humour etched on my face.
âSire did I hurt you?â Henry panicked. âI apologise I had got caught up in that feelingâŚâ He looked fearful of me now. Like I would tell someone about this and get him hanged.
So instead, I laughed it off and sat on his lap ready for even more of the head of my knight guard.

This Week in BL - Japan is here to save the slump
Organized, in each category, with ones I'm enjoying most at the top.
March 2025 Week 2
Ongoing Series - Thai
Perfect 10 Liners (Sun YT) ep 20 of 24 - Santa is really good at comedy, I gotta say. Wine is so cute 'cause he's so frank and earnest. It's adorable! (Inquiring minds would like to know if people in Thailand put perfume on their cheeks?) Lots of linguistic negotiation of pronouns in this episode so that made me really happy.
The Boy Next World (Sun IQIYI) ep 10 end - OMG they made them act and SING at the same time. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. (Raise your proverbial hand if you could actually hear me writhing in pain as that scene aired? Because my whole body was cringing so hard I swear I fractured my own cartilage.) Iâm sorry but this show was doing really well for a Mame but that singing was sphincter-shrinking bad. And seemingly endlessâŚ

Okay the second half:Â The running of the gays, how very Japanese of you. So about 1/2 of the final ep was utterly unbearable, but the rest was fine.
Let's talk?
This show had an excellent premise about two fated mates, Cir & Phu, destined to be lovers in multiple parallel worlds. It is the curse of A Cir Who Knows Better to ensure that they manage to always end up together. This effectively explained all Cirâs weird creepy stalker behavior (pièce de rĂŠsistance of a MAME seme) with the bonafide excuse of that tugging red thread. Turns out I forgive a lot for a strong premise, especially when combined with truly stellar chemistry. *But* there was also some bad chewing of the scenery and really terrible singing at key moments that screwed the landing (yes that too, but). The sex scenes were some of the best weâve ever had, unfortunately even they werenât good enough to mitigate that damn singing. 8/10

A solid showing from MAME, I was shocked, there was a point there when I thought this was gonna get a 9/10 from me!Â
My Golden Blood (Weds YouTube iQIYI) Ep 1 of 12 - Trailer. GMMTV taking on Weds nights and midweek discourse (they hope) with this hotly anticipated vampire series. Is Thailand finally giving us the trashy gay vampires we richly deserve? Just keep in mind us sh*theads don't deserve much.
And it looks like that's exactly what we are getting.
I'm sorry ya'll: I don't like it. But not in a "witty trash watch" kinda way. So it's going here instead: You ready?
Classic main character = orphan with a mysterious past and bad dreams plus people around are weird about his certain traits. I wonder the thing I always wonder, why not give him martial arts training if he has known enemies? I've done various forms for years and never once cut myself. Of course Joss has a shirtless coming out if a pool intro. I can hear the dev team... "Hear me out now, baywatch just... vampires." I see we have new competition in the Advanced Bravely school of muscled thirst. As it should be. Been a while since weâve had anyone on the scene who could give Jason Xu a run for his money. Joss is just the man to flex it. Is it just me or does this pair have negative chemistry? Yes we can all tell this is directed GAY! but Joss + Gawin do not seem even the slightest bit gay. The camera on the other (em) hand...
I asked for gay twilight, Iâm getting gay twilight. Same lack of chemistry, bad special effects, and everything.
(Theory: Mark was the one who killed/drained all of Tong's fam of their golden blood and that is how he got his healing power.)
Flirt Milk (Sat YT) ep 8 or 10Â - all I care about is the side couple.Â
Ossanâs Love Thailand (Mon YouTube) ep 10 of 12 - I do like EarthMix. I just really wish this were a better show. I kinda feel bad for them. That said, l love the host club + live gay boys reaction. SnickerÂ
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Secret Relationships (Korea iQIYI) ep 3 of 8 - I continue to enjoy this a lot. I like how creepy and sinister pretty much everybody is (except for our puppy hero). Who is dog paddling through the filth of his crush's love triangle of past relationships. I like the fact that in the theater an unofficial pass was made. It was totally adorable. Every one is a mess and it's sustaining all of BL right now.
Checkered Shirt (Korea YT) ep 6 of 8 - Baby boy do not flirt with a closet case! Have you learned nothing?
Fight for Love (Vietnam YT) ep 6 of 8 - didn't drop or I somehow missed it. Caught it! It was lovely, nice kiss, I like where the plot is going although... no singing please.
Exclusive Love (Taiwan Fri Gaga) ep 6 of 12 - Our poor little gay boy is being v tested. And testing himself. Side couple = tiny idiots. In other news, one of them is wearing a shirt I actually own! I feel like peek BL stan. (Also I may shop too much in Taipei.) Does I qualify for the shared BL communal wardrobe?
The main trope to rule all BL tropes has returned= he is never asleep.
It's airing but......
Gelboys (Thai iQIYI) 7 eps - Iâm giving this show a pass. Itâs just too far out of my wheelhouse. I donât have patience right now. Ends next week.
The Last Time (Thai WeTV) 8 eps - Has this ended? Anyone watch it?
Sashes and Hearts (Pinoy YT) 13 eps - Philippines is doing Drop Dead Gorgeous only all gay boys queening their asses off. Doesn't interst me, not sure if it's BL.
Last Meal Universe (Thai ????) 8 eps - An alien who has come to destroy earth instead falls in love with Thai food and then the Thai boy who cooks it - realistic, actually. I got a link to watch but it still wouldn't work for me, so I guess I'm waiting to see what happens.
In case you missed it:
CUTEST little JBL short drop on YT. No idea it's real title. About 2 students secretly dating trying to decide to come out. It's popular guy + nerd! Absolutely not sure how long this will last on YT but adorable and worth 17 minutes of your time. Do it ASAP! I don't want a repeat of everyone asking me for Wimpy Corporate Drone again. There seems to be a pervious installment in the series, but no subs.
Don't say I never bring you any prezzies.
Next Week Looks Like This:
Upcoming March 2025
3/19? Lost in the Woods (Weds Gaga) Ep 1 of 7 - Announced for 2023, adapted from a novel of the same name. Fifa just graduated high school and travels to a remote province to take care of his grandma, before starting uni. There he meets Chief Hem, a forest ranger.
3/20 Top Form (Thailand Thurs WeTV) 10 eps - Trailer. Adaptation of a Japanese manga starring Boom (Chains of Heart) opposite Smart (Don't Say No). Actor recognized as the "The Sexiest Man of the Year" has his first-place position usurped by newcomer. But while he sees them as rivals, turns out the new kid has other ideas. I'm super excited for this but hate watching on WeTV so gonna be a challenge.
3/21 Sweet Tooth Good Dentist (Thailand Fri GMMTV & iQIYI) 12 eps - Trailer. Finally Mark is leading a BL! This one based on a Jittirain novel about a weird sunshine student dentist and his sugar-addicted patient, described as a romcom meets romantic therapy. Also, Jimmy is there, primarily to give me second lead syndrome. It looks silly but earnest, I'm looking forward to it actually.
3/28 Heesu in Class 2 (Korea Fri ????) 10 eps - Trailer. Adaption of the comic by Lily, about a shy unpopular boy with a secret crush on best friend who somehow also ends up his school's relationship counselor. Supposed to have completed filming in 2022, the fact this has been in dev hell since then somewhat mitigates this being my most anticipated BL of it's original year.
2025 Line Up
BL Announced for 2025 - PART 1
BL Announced for 2025 - PART 2
20 BLs Announced for 2025 That I'm Really Excited About
GMMTV 2025 Line Up - My Totally Biased and Wildly Flawed Feels
THIS WEEKâS BEST MOMENT
Drive by phone repair for the win. I love them both so much.
That is the jock saying it to the nerd. Yes our nerd is the top in this dynamic. When I tell you to watch a thing, I'm not joking around!

Blitzø is actually really good at Art
From an Art Educator Perspective
Okay so I saw some posts on Blitzø actually really enjoying art and that being his passion other than horses. I don't know if in the fandom we have had this consensus or if this is a hot take on my part, but Blitzø is actually really good at drawing.
You may ask why I know this and why I am so confident?
My credibility: I literally specialize in it.
I am a professional artist. I am a High School Art Teacher, who got their degree in art education and attended a well acclaimed art school.
(Self-taught artists are extremely valid and you do not need to go to art school to be an "actual artist". I am bringing up my background to show that I have a lot of knowledge of the development of fine motor skills and the ranges of art abilities and how to further improve them.)
As an educator, if Blitzø was a student and I saw Blitzø's drawings/doodles I would automatically recognize that he was actually advanced in abilities. Based on looking at his drawings I can tell if he were to actually take his time and focus on something he could create really beautifully detailed/rendered artwork.
You may ask how I know this??? I'm glad you asked.
THE AMOUNT OF LINE QUALITY THAT IS DEMONSTRATED IN BLITZĂ'S DRAWINGS IS INSANE.
â¨Art Lesson timeâ¨
Okay so everyone learning to draw goes through the necessary stages of development
I'm just going to give humans as an example because obviously this is a fictional demon we are talking about.
Generally everyone goes through these stages as they grow and work on learning to draw. (Prodigies are extremely rare and I've only seen one once)
Art skills are like a sport. You need to train in order to develop fine motor abilities and control in your hands. The more you draw and do art the more you gain control of your muscles. It takes a lot of time and years of work to improve.
When a person's fine motor skills aren't as developed their lines tend to be shaky and they have less control. The more a person draws the better their line control becomes.
(Think of when you were little and you were first learning how to write)
The way I can tell how advanced Blitzø is, is through his line quality.
Now what is Line Quality?

This is a screenshot from this wonderful article
So in Blitzø's artwork he very much illustrates good Line control, force, thickness, and fluidity.
Okay first of all I want to Mention
THAT BLITZĂ IS DRAWING IN PEN. You can tell this because different parts of the Calendar are crossed out with his scribbles. Also anybody with a calendar knows you have to write with a pen.

LOOK AT HOW CLEAN, FLUID AND CONFIDENT THESE LINES ARE DESPITE THAT HE IS DRAWING IN PEN!???
My assumption is that Blitzø is not using a reference for these drawings. You could make the argument that he has photos for M&M, Loona, and Stolas; however, he definitely does not have a photo of Striker.
I want to mention how dynamic of a pose he is drawing people in. He isn't avoiding hands at all. All of the hands are relatively accurate (Strikers especially).
In these drawings you see variation in line weight meaning parts of his lines are thicker to thinner. So Blitzø is purposely pressing harder and lighter to show variation and depth. His lines are very clean. I don't see repetitive Stokes and lines for the shapes. He is really confident with his mark making and you can tell because his lines aren't shaky at all.
By looking at his line quality and how clean it is you can tell he drew it quickly.
Not to mention he actually has a huge range of items he can draw confidently including and not limited to horses, weapons, leashes, cars, demons, and of course genitalia.
Blitzø isn't what you call a one trick pony đ´ when it comes to what he can draw.
You can see this skill demonstrated in his other doodles.
You can even see this ability demonstrated in his drawings on the whiteboard
Okay anybody who has drawn on a whiteboard knows that they are difficult to draw on.
Whiteboards smear and are very streaky. In this photo you can tell where Blitzø made a mistake or changed information. Notice that none of his drawings have any smears. That means he did these drawings in literally one take.
I also want to mention his drawings in spring breakers. He is speed drawing directions and illustrating a plan perfectly to his employees.

HE IS LITERALLY RAPID FIRE SPEED DRAWING HERE
His drawing of Veroskika which he DREW FROM MEMORY.
Demonstrates the following:
Line control, Line Confidence, Line Fluidity, Variation in Line weight, and still has relatively correct proportions!?
Basically shut up MOXIE?!!! He did a good job!
Why have we not seen more detailed Blitzø artwork?
Okay so I as we know in the show Blitzø puts his doodles everywhere. So if he is good at Art why isn't he showing his artwork he spent a long time on????
The answer: he's insecure
Showing someone your art is a very vulnerable action. This is especially true if you spent a long time on it.
If someone doesn't like or makes fun of your doodle you can brush it off and be like well it's only a sketch and I did it in under 5 min.
It's a lot easier to show someone a silly little horse drawing you did than something you poured your heart and soul into.
We already are aware that Blitzø is insecure and has self-esteem issues. He literally covers his face in the photos of himself throughout his apartment. He is a very guarded individual. Of course he wouldn't show people the art he spent hours on. What if people reject them? They judge him for spending that much time? What if they see how much he actually loves them?
Blitzø feels like the kind of person who would crumple up or destroy his art that he spends long amounts of time on. It's a way of self-sabotaging yourself and further self-loathing.
Now do I think he has these hours long art pieces/drawings????
ABSOLUTELY
My guess is that Blitzø most likely has a hidden sketchbook. Artists tend to draw their loved ones and especially their children and partners.
There is no doubt in my mind that Blitzø hasn't been doing long observational drawings of Stola's especially when he is sleeping.
He has most likely been drawing Loona all the time. Why do you think he takes all the photos? Those are his references. He has probably been drawing detailed artwork of his loved ones this whole time (and of course horses too lol).
In conclusion
Blitzø actually can draw really well because his doodles demonstrate high levels of skill in line quality.
Going forward I would really appreciate if someone actually finds Blitzø's sketchbook or portfolio of his artwork he spent large amounts of time on. It would be really cute. It would be adorable if Loona or Stolas found them.
Blitzø could gain more confidence and put is artwork he really cares about on display đĽş
I also just want Moxie to find out and eat his words. (Guys I swear I don't hate Moxie đ)
Thank you for joining me here today on my Ted talk on how I think Blitzø is actually a talented artist. I'm just an art teacher who has problems with how much helluva boss lives in rent free in my head.
#helluva boss#blitzø#helluva blitzo#stolas#helluva theory#stolitz#blitzo is an artist you cannot tell me im wrong#blitzo doodles#helluva boss lives rent free in my head#art teacher analysis#Could you argue that they are good drawings because the artists who made the show know how to draw? yes. but this is a way more fun idea#YOUR GOING TO LOOK AT ME AND TELL ME IM WRONG??!!#Neurospizzzziee Helluva Analysis

Hi there! I'm writing a barista character and got a bit stuck. Do you have any notes on how to write baristas (e.g. what shifts are like; what you have to learn to be one, etc)? Thank you so much!
(Your posts here are invaluable, by the way, and super helpful. đ)
Writing Notes: Barista
Barista - specializes in making a variety of coffee and espresso beverages.
Usually works in a cafe, coffee shop or bookstore where they take customer orders, complete transactions and serve drinks.
May also prepare and serve a few small meals and pastry options.
Day-to-Day Tasks
As a barista, you would:
prepare the premises or outlet ready for opening
welcome customers, take orders and process payments
prepare and serve coffees, hot snacks, sandwiches and cakes
clean and tidy work areas, equipment and coffee machines
check and order new stock
Preparing Beverages. One of the baristaâs primary duties is preparing various drinks to meet customer preferences. This involves:
Crafting Espresso-Based Drinks: Baristas skillfully pull espresso shots, steam milk, and create drinks like cappuccinos, lattes, and macchiatos. They ensure each beverage has the perfect balance of flavor and texture.
Brewing Specialty Coffees: Many coffee shops offer pour-over coffees, cold brews, or French press options. Baristas must understand brewing methods, grind size, and extraction techniques to achieve the desired flavor profile.
Creating Latte Art: For many customers, presentation matters as much as taste. Baristas often add intricate designs, such as hearts or rosettas, to elevate the visual appeal of lattes and cappuccinos.
Customizing Orders: Customize drinks to customer preferences by adjusting sweetness levels, switching to non-dairy milk, or adding extra espresso shots.
Other barista duties may include:Â
Welcoming patrons to the shop
Building a relationship with regular customers and remembering their orders
Explaining the cafeâs special menu items as necessary
Recommending beverage options if requested
Following recipes and presentation guides to make beverages
Preparing plates or takeaway containers of pastry and food items
Cleaning and maintaining the commercial coffee machine, steamer and blender
Following health and safety policies
Removing dishes from the table as patrons finish their drinks
Preparing checks and taking payment from patrons
Work EnvironmentÂ
Baristas work in a variety of coffee shops with the following characteristics:
Standing and walking around for extended periods of time
Lifting and carrying food and drink trays to tables
Working near many other customers, servers and kitchen staff
Wearing a uniform if required by the restaurant
Working environment may be noisy
Typical Hours
40 to 42 hours (variable) per week
Evenings / Weekends / Holidays (on shifts)
Cafes and coffee shops typically open early in the mornings
May require baristas to be flexible with scheduling to meet customer demand
The work can be fast-paced during busy periods
Suitable job for students and part-time workers
Career Path & Progression
There may also be opportunities to move into:
barista staff training
equipment maintenance
coffee tasting and buying
product development and marketing
You could become self-employed and open your own coffee shop.
With experience, you could become a:
store manager, then
regional manager, with a coffee retail chain or franchise.
Pros & Cons

Modest Pay: Entry-level wages can be low, though tips often help.
How to Become a Barista
You can get into this job through: a college course; an apprenticeship; applying directly; training with a professional body.
College. Although not essential, you could do a college course that would give you some of the skills needed for this role. Courses include:
barista skills
food and beverage service
retail skills
Apprenticeship. You can apply to do a Hospitality Team Member Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship.
This will usually take 12 months to complete
A mix of on-the-job training and time spent with a college or training provider
Direct Application. When you start, your employer will put you through training in barista skills and product knowledge. Some employers may prefer you to have experience in customer service, retail sales or catering.
Common Personality Traits
22,778 baristas were surveyed to learn what personality traits and interests make them unique. Based on the Holland Codes:
Baristas tend to be predominantly conventional individuals, meaning that they are usually detail-oriented and organized, and like working in a structured environment.
They also tend to be realistic, which means that they often enjoy working outdoors or applying themselves to a hands-on project.
Based on The Big Five:
Baristas score highly on openness, which means they are usually curious, imaginative, and value variety.
They also tend to be high on the measure of extraversion, meaning that they rely on external stimuli to be happy, such as people or exciting surroundings.
Barista Tools
Baristas use a wide variety of tools to complete their duties. Some common tools:
Espresso Machine. Allows you to brew highly concentrated black coffee. During this process, the machine forces pressurized hot water through finely grounded coffee. Some types of drinks you can make using an espresso machine include: Macchiato; Cafe latte; Cappuccino; Mocha; Affogato; and Americano
Frothing Steam Pitcher. Used to create any drink that requires milk. A frothing stream pitcher helps you create a milk foam to top off a cup of coffee. You can also use this type of pitcher to create an assortment of latte art. Frothing pitchers are stainless steel and feature a handle and pouring spout. A narrow spout can offer control when pouring latte art, such as a heart or rose. You can also find frothing pitchers in different sizes, depending on the amount of milk you want to froth.
Foam Frothing Spoon. After creating foam from a steam pitcher, you can use a foam frothing spoon to control how much foam you pour over a cup of coffee. Using a frothing spoon can prevent spilling that may occur when pouring the foam into a cup of coffee. This type of spoon features a flat tip that makes it easier to scoop only foam from a steaming pitcher.
Thermometer. When making espresso, it's important to consider the brewing temperature, along with that of the milk froth. If your espresso machine doesn't come with a proportional-integral-derivative, use a thermometer to measure espresso as it leaves the brew head. When making a drink that requires steamed milk, it's important for the milk to reach the ideal temperature of about 149 degrees Fahrenheit. To reach this temperature, consider using a frothing thermometer for complete accuracy. A frothing thermometer can also help you avoid burning the milk while ensuring a caramelized milk finish that can elevate the flavor of any coffee.
Commercial Coffee Maker. This type of coffee maker lets you brew a standard cup of coffee. After filling it with water and coffee grounds, a coffee maker filters hot water through a basket holding coffee grounds. After filtering, black coffee enters the coffee pot. You can use this black coffee for a standard cup of coffee or for other drinks such as an iced coffee or latte.
Tamper. Baristas use tampers to brew espresso, whether in a machine or through a stovetop espresso maker. A tamper lets you pack loosely dosed coffee grounds so they're tightly pressed, ensuring a quality espresso shot. You can also adjust the length of a tamper depending on the espresso dosage.
Scale. Helps you achieve a consistent and accurately measured espresso shot. In terms of measurement, a scale helps you determine the amount of beans you use for one shot. If you use a quality grinder with a doser, you may not need a scale.
Coffee Grinder. Grinds fresh coffee beans before the brewing process. A coffee grinder lets you grind as much coffee as needed, whether for an espresso shot or a large batch of coffee. Many coffee grinders have conical burrs that let you select the size of your coffee grounds.

In praise of good martial forms
One thing I alluded to earlier is that Suo has really, really good martial forms. As someone who dabbled with martial arts at various stages of my life, these details jump out. Of course, any martial artist worth their salt must have good forms, unconventional style or not (as Suo described the forms he learned as a "jumble of mixed martial arts"). Wind Breaker is one of the best choreographed manga I have seen, so these details are very much worth analyzing :P
Table of contents:
Martial arts start with good forms
Suo v. Oobiki: Is Discipline Rigidity or Fluidity?
Foundational Grounded-ness: Defense as Offense
Circularity; Yin and Yang
Suo on the Offensive: no_fist.megamind?
I will first go over the basics â how the choreography demonstrates Suo's solid skills, which segue into Suo v. Oobiki's debate about "discipline" (spoiler: Suo wins because he has better forms, i.e. better discipline), then moving on to make more observations about his stylesâ particularly the circularity and how the narrative is restraining Suo from using his fist to attack.
Martial arts start with good forms
As an introduction, I will note that Suo always sits and stands very properly, with his back straight and his posture supported by his hands behind his back.
Notice also that while Sakura casually leans back against his chair, slumping backward, and Nirei "cowers" -- leaning forward -- Suo sits straight-backed like the epitome of a polite young man :3c
This is another fun contrast between Suo and most other delinquents in the storyâ in an environment emphasizing rebellion, freedom, and a bit of teenage arrogance mixed in, sparking all sorts of wild and flamboyant self-expressions (dyed hair, undercut, piercings, etc.), Suo alone stands with a very traditional, conservative, and almost a prudent sensibility, in both his clothings and behaviors. Had he not don his Furin jacket, would anyone believe that this gentleman is a delinquent?
That is to say, Suo's trainings are baked into his bones, to the way he holds and moves himself, most likely to even his speech. Good forms from the beginning to end. Suo likely has practiced martial arts for a good while.
The thing that makes me notice how good his form is is from his fist placement in the Kanuma fight:
First, note that Suo's right fist is in the ready position by his hip, ready to hit. It's small, but surprisingly easy to forget when you are starting out. It's somewhat about being ready to punch at anytime (even though we never see Suo actually punching anyone), but more about the discipline of always being ready for your next move.
Similarly, the fist is there during the Oobiki fight. Note that Suo was able to surprise Oobiki and get a hit in because the ready-to-go fist exists as a camouflage, distracting the opponent from his other arm (out of frameâ out of Oobiki's visual field). Having the fist there is an excellent basic form, and it allows Suo multiple options of attack.
Let's transition to legwork. One of the most important thing in martial arts is stances. Generally, the deeper your stance is, the lower your center of gravity, hence the more stability you have. This is, of course, at the cost of mobility, which is achievable with narrower, higher stances. An exercise at the advanced (masters') level of karate is to stand in kiba-dachi, the basic horse stance (first thing you'll ever learn) continuously for an hour or more. That's how strong your legs have to be. And practice staying in proper stances is how you hone it. Having a strong, solid stance is essential for balance and power,
Notice the solid, deep (low) stanceâ and how much power is behind it as Suo very gently seize Kanuma's fist and flips him. We can see the difference in speed (and thus input power) by the blur in both frames.
Again and again, Suo does a lot of "flipping people over" like this (I'm sure there is a proper term for it, in what I assume is Aikido, but that's a martial discipline I haven't flirted with lol). I will labor the point of Suo's moves being primarily circular later, but just to demonstrate the power behind his seemingly-effortless moves:
Note the stanceâ and the engaged legs muscles

Same hereâ the deep stance provides a tremendous amount of power required to fling a grown man and knock out two more people. Note again the difference in speed/input momentum (top right panel).
Doing mixed martial arts doesn't means that every move is a hodge-podge of everything. Suo's starting stance is a very basic/common starting form in kungfu:
As a side note, visually this starting form is very representative of Suo as a character/fighter :P He doesn't start (seemingly) looking for a fight; his stance is neutral, relaxed; one hand is inviting the opponent into his space. However, when we look closer, his feet are position such that he is ready to lunge forward (front-facing leg) and a fist is hidden behind his back, also ready to pounce.
It is a basic stance because it is good, and great when done right. If there is one (1) single thing you get from all the ramblings I do, let it be that Suo has very good basics. From his resting stance, fist placement, low stances, to kickâ everything is solid.
This brings us to the "debate" between Suo and Oobiki about what "discipline" means.
Discipline: Rigidity or Fluidity?
Suo v. Oobiki is, ultimately, a fight about their philosophy regarding "discipline". (In this manner, we can say that Suo participated in at least one conversation, lol. But more on this later in Crisis of Contact or The Failure of Language (coming soon. at some point.) perhaps.) Firstly, Oobiki brought up discipline with the context of punishment for bad behaviors:
Which suggests that a (rigid) social code was violated hereâ which is that Suo, the underclassmen, had insulted his superior (in age and school-year). Discipline, here, is a violent mean to "bend" someone back to the appropriate behavior; or, perhaps, discipline means the rigid code of appropriate behaviors itself. Regardless, we get the sense here that "discipline" is rigid, meant to be followed to the letter, and even somewhat hierarchical: the elder enforces discipline onto the younger, not the other way around.
Ironically, this rigidity and hierarchy of discipline is what Oobiki forsook in the first place when he gave up competitive gymnastics:
Rigid routine, rigid rules;
The hierarchy of ranking and rigid scoring system;
And yet, old habits die hard. The brutality of competition and gymnastics is engrained into Oobiki's conception of discipline, and what it means to be, yourself, disciplined, or to discipline somebody else: beating the same stringent routines and rules until submission.
Afterwards, Suo relays a very different view â another definition altogether â of the word:
(Yeehaw! The first visual of Suo's master--- the same narrative role as Akari, yet so much further away...)
Discipline here is not a rigid code of rules or behavior, but rather the transmission of knowledge. This may be due to localization (can somebody please supply me with the Japanese version), but notice that Oobiki uses "discipline" as a noun, while Suo uses it as a verb. One is a thing that you have; the other is an action you impart upon someone else. Already, we see the rigidity of an object without care for whom it affects, versus an action that involves two people at the minimum (the teacher and the student) and widens the possibility of what could be taught. Martial arts is a discipline; so is calligraphy, for example, or tea ceremony, or life philosophy, or math, or science, or literature, etc.
Discipline, to Suo (relayed to him by his Master, by the quote) is a living, mobile thing, means to share knowledge without forcing it upon somebody. You can try to train or teach someone; it doesn't mean they will learn it that exact way, or they may modify your teachings to their needs. Suo is already innovating upon the discipline passed down to him by teaching Nirei to protect himself and fight back at once
It's a living thing in the same sense that humanity is a living thing, as culture and knowledge get passed down and modified generations by generations. It's quite generative, to employ a pun here. It's more philosophical and metaphysical than the concrete, object-like "discipline" that Oobiki wants to impart, or force upon, others.
How do these two views of "discipline" duke it out? By fighting, of course! And, I will argue that Suo wins because he has the better discipline, narratively speaking. Of course, it's nearly impossible for two definitions of the word to duke it outâ this is why we have stories and narratives :D The key observation I want to make is that Suo has the more solid and proper forms.
I noted earlier that Suo was able to get a hit into Oobiki with his elbow because of his good ready stance with the fist. The more demonstrative example, I think, is in this sequence here, which immediately follows the aforementioned example:
Oobiki begins with a gymnastic-inspired cartwheel, using one leg to attack and hook Suo's arm down. Note that the force is concentrated on Suo's wrist. With his momentum, Oobiki's arms push upward to complete the cartwheel, and, theoretically, slam Suo's body down by his wrist (a very tiny fraction of Suo's body massâ which is proportional momentum). That's cool and all, but I think Oobiki makes a grave mistake nextâŚ

... of attacking with his other leg instead of landing. He expects Suo's whole body to go down with his wrist (which, again, very small fraction of body massâ Suo is a lot stronger physically than Oobiki expected). If that is the case, then Oobiki gets the point. However, I think, giving yourself zero point of contact on the ground â your form and stance not being grounded at all â is a risky gamble. You risk standing on nothing and having no foundation beneath to push you on. While you are falling mid-air, your opponent easily get a grasp on you, and, supplying some (seemingly) minimal amount of force, turns gravity against you. Again, no foundation, nothing solid to land on.
This is, also, the last significant movement in their choreography before the winner is decided. This ending is signified by Oobiki saying, "I can't read you at all..." before the narrative naturally descend to the conclusion of their fight with Suo as the winner. Oobiki's "encore" is merely the last desperate swipe in a conversation already closed.
Foundational Grounded-ness; Defense as Offense
Another observation: throughout the Oobiki fight, most of Suo's stances are low, deep stances, which emphasizes stability and grounded-ness. We see these in the previous examplesâ in the one immediately above, Suo's stance is so "deep" that he is kneeling on the ground: very stable (which also necessitates no small amount of core strength, mind you) in contrast to Oobiki's ungrounded-ness.
Here, Suo starts from a neutral, high stance, then steps out and down to move his opponent down along with his own center of gravity
Next, a very impressive (holy crap I can't properly express how fucking insane of a move that is) swing: from a low (kicking) stance, which provides the normal force necessary to push, and over
To a solid, whole foot (HEEL FIRST! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT-- note the angle where the heel is closer to the ground) and a forceful slam down.
While Suo adeptly utilizes high, middle, and low stances, I want to point out that in this fight, all of his move begins from a low stance. Narratively, Suo is focusing on stability, grounded-ness (purpose-wise, Furin's job is to hold their ground, too), and defense â which is his specialty. Suo rarely initialize attacks as offense; here, he relies on the same grounded-ness of his defensive practice as offense. You have heard "the best defense is offense" before, now, welcome to "the best offense is defense" :P.
Combing through the manga, I am struck with how solid Suo's stances are, which I'm sure I have more than adequately emphasized by now. He is agile, mobile, and responsive, yes, but he agilely steps into a sturdy defensive stance in every fight, as demonstrated above in the Kiryuu introductory fight as well as in Roppo Ichiza.

I think this does say something about Suo as a character; just as Sakura's agility, adaptability, creativity, and ferocity says about his, or Tsugeura's high-spirited, principled (even if seemingly odd) virtues being supported by his muscular sturdinessâ emphasize the simplicity of pure force, or, Sugishita's long-armed, forceful, but single-trajectory attacks says about his single-minded determination. It doesn't have to be anything too deep lest we step too close into Backstory Speculations territory (though I would not blame us for that, seeing that that is the #1 mystery right now, lol). But, to me, there seems to be an interesting contrast between Suo's image as a lighthearted, blithe, socially-adaptable child and his principled and grounded stances, which are primarily employed to protect or defend someone else.
(Suo's return to the group post-Oobiki is blithe and lightfooted. At this moment, his return is more to a social effect, reconnecting with the rest of the class before the fight resume. Note that, in contrast to his earlier heel-first landing, toe-first landing is used for very light landingâ a spirit of windless calm, as I love to say these days. His first impact is this lightness â relieving Nirei from his post, signifying a victory, like a balm upon the toiling soldiers.)
There is, still, a hidden sternness and practicality underneath such a light and humorous character. We caught glimpses of it: Suo who, on the first day of class, "fact-and-logic"'ed Sakura and Sugishita into resolving their conflicts:
Suo who represents the foundational philosophy of fighting as a group to Sakura:
Suo is also teaching Nirei the foundation of fighting, etc. etc.
These roles fit perfectly into his motif as a "teacher" in the narrative, conveniently also as the narrative mouthpiece: I discussed in another analysis Suo's role as the one delivering "conclusive remarks" â the final deliverer of message to Sakura's journey. Just like his conception of discipline as "passing down teachings" â passing down something fundamental, grounding, upon which new innovations can be made â Suo provides the elementary, foundational "bricks" to the story, upon which Nirei, Sakura, the audience, and whomever else he will teach next, can build up their unique substances. It all starts with a good basicsâ thatâs the thing that struck me with Suoâs fighting styles: itâs graceful and simple, based on strong and solid foundational skills.
Circularity; Yin and Yang
By now, it's clear that Suo's fighting motif is primarily circular: he twists and flips his opponents both parallel to and perpendicular to the plane of his body

@darkersolstice and I briefly discussed this point earlier, here, where they insightfully compare Suo to the eye of a hurricane. Inspired by this, I remarked that the philosophical basis of Suo's style is something to the effect of "A steadfast heart amidst the ever-turbulent circumstances" (In Vietnamese, "Tâm bẼt biáşżn giᝯa dòng Äáťi vấn biáşżn"). As the calm in the eye of the storm â the central, unmoving axis of rotation â Suo controls himself and the vortex of life such that they all pass by him. He sees and acknowledges the turbulence; but he remains unperturbed and untouched by them.
There is a nuance between what I argue here versus what I argued by Suo's evasiveness, in that it is not the fighting style that is the evasive one, but Suo is. The evasiveness â the "letting life flows by" physical philosophy â is just one of the many possible motivator for his evasion. The bulk of Suo's dodging, I think now, is social rather than physical; the physical aspect just further enforces the motif. (Or, I may argue, the physical aspect may hints towards a deeper motivation for the habitual deflection, without it being the main culprit of the evading act.)
Coming back to the circularity itself; the perfect circle has been symbolically important, throughout many culture, as a symbol of perfection and completeness. The Aristotelian view of the universe was that of a series of enclosing sphere, because circles â and spheres â are perfect. In Chinese philosophy, the same ideal is reflected in yin and yang
There is light in darkness, darkness in light, as circular force and motion rotate in the universe. This is the total encapsulation of everything. Suo's circular form, where he controls the sum total of his force and the opponent's momentum to his advantage, symbolize this philosophical totality. By Suo's association with a heavily Chinese motif, this could be the intended basis of his form.
Suo on the Offensive? no_fist.megamind?
Another thing that is apparent is that Suo has yet to (actually) attack with his fist; both time, against Kanuma or KEEL, he was thwarted from doing so:
Both time, Suo going for the punch was considered an excessive use of forceâ explicitly so in the KEEL's case, where it was considered the wrong and overly-aggressive choice. There, it also marked a break from his serene and mature characterization.
Suo does attackâ but it is always with his legs, palms, or elbow (in the Oobiki fight).

Never the fist. Why?
I, to be honest, still have to ponder more what this means in relation to the rest of his defensive, circular (yin-yang), and deflective (utilizing the opponent's momentum) fighting style. An oath of non-violence, perhaps?â an oath to respond to your environment, to defend as the need arise, to seek not violence but repel it? These are compelling statements. Why kicks and push, but not fist? Perhaps there is an "excuse" of repelling and deflecting in kicking away, pushing away that does not exist in punch in, punch at, punch through. With its various prepositions, punching is rarely away, but always offensive, violating, stepping inside in a sense. Suo's discipline seems to be that of pacifism or at least, minimal violence. Violence cannot touch him, and he cannot exude violence with the discipline he was taughtâ handed down to? constrained in?
There are still so many interesting thoughts to extrapolate on, so many narrative trajectories wide open for Suo (and his backstory) to takeâ but that shall be the story for another day.

Grabbed the latest issue of Sho-Comi because Mahou Shoujo Dandelion has been making waves on Twitter in advance of its release and I had to see how it actually turned out.
Mizuho Kaeru seemed a tad overwhelmed on socials about just how much anticipation the series was receiving based on concept and characters alone, but Mizuho should honestly be proud of how well they've lined up trending tropes in Dandelion.
You've got the nasty-cute monster dude (Shade) who would do anything for his bright ray of sunshine (Tanpopo). Throw in the nostalgic magical girl element and it's not hard to see why both Japanese and English-speaking fans have been anticipating this first chapter. So, does it live up to the hype?
I'd veture that yes, Dandelion is worthy of the excitement that has been building around it. It was good as a lunchtime read on my phone and while I'll probably have to re-read it to get everything I want from it, my initial impression is a positive one.
I'm not a fan of grumpy/sunshine type stuff but Tanpopo's strengths as a character really helped me enjoy what was on offer here. You can see why the Special Magic Warrior Management Organisation was interested in her, she's got a good heart and she's got gumption, even if Shade is the one who continually helps break her fall.
The complication here is of course that Shade, while obliging of Tanpopo in his own way, is also monstrous. He plays into this when he wants to, menacing Tanpopo herself at one point because he's A VILLAIN OK?? (Sure buddy.) With Tanpopo becoming Dandelion, how will their dynamic change? Can this uneasy relationship develop further when our leads are technically on opposite sides of a battle with life-altering stakes, despite a potential unspoken desire to present a united front?
What I like about Mizuho's approach in this first chapter is that the world these characters live in is already tinted with grey and what should be a black & white / good vs. evil situation is far more complex than this right out of the gate. The "monster of the week" that shows up here is grotesque and violent, hardly the sanitised version you'd see in childhood cartoons. However, the magic warrior org is quite willing to lop heads (literally) when they have to, showing that they are not all sparkles and rainbows either. Tanpopo and Shade are very much walking into unknown territory here and I'm interested to see how Mizuho handles things in chapter two.
I just have to add that I absolutely loved this moment where Dandelion, newly transformed, performs her first magical action -- restoring the umbrella she'd used defensively as Tanpopo. So much about her character expressed in this simple yet powerful action. LOVED ITTTTTT.
If the hype remains then I can see this one turning out to be a solid little series. There's definite potential here in both the characters and scenario. I highly recommend grabbing the magazine issue and supporting any other official releases that become available if you can. Mizuho is also happy for people to produce fan art, so maybe draw pic or share a tweet/post/etc. about it if you don't have the money to invest and help keep that hype train moving this way instead!
